In the area where I live I can hear all kinds of different birds singing and communicating, sometimes in mysterious voices. So I decided to make some paintings about birds and communication. Three days after making the first painting pigeons made a nest right in front of my door. They also made a huge mess! Some of it actually looked like paint splattered about. Of course the building caretaker removed the nest and mess and also hung a net in front of the building staircase but the pigeons returned stubbornly several times. I started wondering why pigeons prefer buildings over trees for nesting. I also wondered why buildings are not made in a way to give living spaces to pigeons and other birds without it being a problem for the humans living there. While I was thinking about these things I kept hearing various bird sounds. They were beginning to sound more and more like the voices of the chorus in Classical Greek theater, commenting on the activities of the tragedy or comedy. Suddenly my everyday life and these little events (and the whole world with it) started to seem like an absurdist play, a view which I have not been able to turn off since.

私が住んでいる地域では、様々な種類の鳥の鳴き声や伝達が、時には神秘的な声で聞こえてくる。そこで私は、鳥とコミュニケーションについての絵を描くことにした。最初の絵を描いた3日後、ハトが私の家のドアの前に巣を作った。ハトはまた、大きなフンを散らかした！中には絵の具が飛び散ったようなものもあった。もちろん、建物の管理人は巣とフンを取り除き、階段の前にネットをかけたが、ハトは何度もしぶとく戻ってきた。私は、なぜハトが巣を作るのに木よりも建物を好むのか、不思議に思い始めた。また、なぜ建物はそこに住む人間に迷惑がかかることなく、ハトや他の鳥に生活空間を与えるように作られていないのだろうか、とも思った。そんなことを考えているうちに、様々な鳥の鳴き声が聞こえてきた。彼らの鳴き声は、悲劇や喜劇について説明する古代ギリシア劇の合唱隊の声（コロス）にますます似てきた。突然、私の日常生活とこれらの小さな出来事（そしてそれに付随する世界全体）が不条理劇のように見え始め、それ以来、私はその見方を消すことが出来なくなった。
